Learn about cardiac arrest.

  • Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly. It is triggered by an electrical malfunction in the heart that causes an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia). With its pumping action disrupted, the heart cannot pump blood to the brain, lungs and other organs.

  • During cardiac arrest, the heart suddenly stops beating effectively. This cessation of effective pumping deprives the brain and other vital organs of oxygen-rich blood. As a result, the person loses consciousness, stops breathing, and their pulse becomes undetectable. Without immediate intervention such as CPR and defibrillation, cardiac arrest can be fatal within minutes.

  • Cardiac arrest can be reversible in some victims if it's treated within a few minutes. First, call your local emergency number and start CPR right away. Then, if an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is available, use it as soon as possible. If two people are available to help, one should begin CPR immediately while the other calls your local emergency number and finds an AED.

CPR training can double survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest, but few know how to conduct it safely.

Be a hero for your community in a time of need.

Our goal is to give everyone in the community an opportunity to learn CPR and be there when it matters.

The Rohan Rajeev Foundation has recognized that there is a significant lack of awareness among the general public on what CPR is and how important it is for someone to have basic knowledge of performing CPR .

Since February 2023 we have completed 32 sessions and almost 950 people have undergone bystander CPR training.
